Whitehall Summer League

There is a competitive women's outdoor summer league in Whitehall that we can participate in. The league is sanctioned by the NCAA, so division I athletes are eligible to participate. Last year, the league had 14 teams, 7 of which were from local colleges including Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, Moravian, DeSales, Cedar Crest (and some others). They had 14 division I players play last year.

The league runs on Thursday and Sunday nights from June 15th through August 5th (might last a little longer). Games are played at 2 different outdoor courts, one on Thursdays and the other on Sundays. Game times on Thursdays run 6, 7, 8 and 9. Game times on Sundays start at 5:30 instead of 6. Each team plays every other team one time. The top 8 teams will then participate in the playoffs.

Each game consists of two 20 minute halves and the clock stops during the last 2 minutes of each half. 90 % of the officals in the league are women's collegiate level officials.

The cost for a team will be between 400 and 500 dollars. It's recommended that we have between 8 and 10 players, so that would amount to somewhere between 40 and 60 per person. Since it's the summer time and people might be on vacation, we need to have enough players so we don't have to forfeit any games. If we don't have 5 players on any given night, we'd have to forfeit.

I have to get back in touch with the organizer of the league by the end of April, so I'd like to have a team in place by then. There is a league meeting the first week in May, so we'll need to have our team decided upon by then.
